Well, I'm no doctor, but I know that it's the last thing many Al-Queda members hear.

Theo ~ it could be tinnitus, get it check out asap or you could go deaf.

Look up "tinnitus" at Wikipedia.org.

Droning or high pitched whining sound?

I have ringing in my ears. Recently got quite loud. Very disturbing but not life threatening. Nerves in ear collapsed due to over exposure to loud noises over lifetime. Called tinnitus.

Hope this helps.

That depends. If you're married, then it's normal.

High-pitched, somewhat like a cicada? Could be tinnitus. I have it big time - and it sucks.

In any event, you should see your doctor just to rule out other possibilities.

Turn around so your wife can speak into the other ear

Make the wife sit on your left.

Could be:

1. Check your blood pressure.

2. Check your ear canal for a possible inflamation that could be pressing on your eardrum.

less likely:

3. Take your Bluteooth off 'vibrate.'
4. Tell the old lady to just belt up. In which case your ear will shortly be ringing.

Theo,
Turn your head very carefully and slowly and look to your right. Is your wife standing there? If so then the droning noise is nothing important and you can ignore it. Otherwise I suggest seeking professional help. Am I correct that the National Health Service has an Expedited Droning Noise Service? If that applies it should get you pre-evaluated for an Audiology consultation in 5 to 7 years, depending on the breaks, funding, possible job actions and future EU Droning Directives.

Actual appointment with the doctor to follow, if approved within 4 more years on average, extrapolating from data collected in the 3rd quarter of 1997 in 3 districts in Wales.

If it's tinnitus, it could be the sign of something. Infection or hearing loss is not unusual, Theo. I have permanent tinnitus from a head injury with hearing loss years ago ... Check Wikipedia's entry for "tinnitus."

Depends on who you're sleeping next to.

Seriously, if it's persistent, yes.

Only if you´re in the Taliban or Al Qaeda, in which case it probably means your violent death is imminent.

If it is what I think, you are getting tinitis.

I have a 10% disablitiy thru the VA for tinitis. Mine is from lound aircraft, guns and explosions.

It means you're holding the pipes wrong; the drones go over the left shoulder.

Sleep in the spare room. If it goes away, you need 'the talk'.
