There's another thing about Pearl Harbor that fits today's rationalizations.
Today, we hear many "experts" ridiculing the idea that a nuke could be imported into and detonated in the US.
Reasoning/rationalizations?
Enemy is limited to "cave tech". You know, that same level of tech available in the '60s when truly horrific city killer bombs were built.
Enemy can't do nano tech to build state of the art triggering devices and such. You know, like way back when when such things didn't exist but nukes did.
Enemy aint got long enough ranged missiles to deliver bombs on us.
Similarities to Pearl?
Japanese are crappy pilots because they all have bad eyesight, so all is safe.
Pearl is too shallow for air dropped torpedoes. Proven by our own testing. If we can't do it, no one can.
No way the JIN could sneak a battle fleet into air strike range of Pearl.
Next up, the Maginot Line and the "we can beat em through lawfare and homeland defense" idiocy.
