I'm not sure why this information about the Hassts eagle is "new", the article didn't tell me one thing I didn't know from seeing it in the museum 40 years ago.
Just one of the many many species wiped out for the "people of the land", the Maori. They exterminated over half the native species when they settled here.
They had fun torching the forests as well but now they have whitey to blame for everything so its all good.
