I'm ok with his theater tastes. Imagine how thoroughly he would have destroyed the Republic given another 4 years. He was the first totalitarian Marxist president.

May he rot in hell with FDR and Ted and Jack Kennedy.

The Democrats of his day did nitpick every one of those things and more.

They also campaigned for a negotiated settlement with the Confederacy. Imagine what the US would look like if it had been President George McClellan in 1864.

And, last but not least, Cecil Rhodes and his pals wanted a permanent split in the US. The better to bring you back into the empire, my dears.

It wasn't a "two party system" exclusively and firmly until AFTER the war between the states.
