Unfortunately, outside of ancient Egypt, not much has come out of that huge continent that has advanced civilization.

The Sahara effectively cuts the continent into a very thin northern strip that has interacted with Europe and Asia and a large, isolated southern mass mired in tribalism.

Size doesn't matter... sometimes.
