Spoils of victory.
There were an awful lot of Russian military aircraft that the US never returned after their pilots defected to the West.
All Russian aircraft were returned neatly packed in multiple crates after careful inspection by Western aviation experts.
Damn these neckless low brow slavs are slow learners.
Start air dropping the coke and blue jeans again, they'll crack inside a month.

A couple were sent back but the majority ended up permanently in US hands.
