Affirmative Action..............from Rico

Affirmative Action. It sounded like a good idea once. Fair. But, like ALL government programs it has assumed immortality long after any need remains for it.

I once belonged to an organization that was dedicated to "affirmative action" in a big way. Let me say that I never met one I didn't like on a personal basis, but then I never met one who was clearly the most qualified for the position they held either...they were by varying degrees unqualified and/or incompetent and had to be "carried" by the more capable employees. It was an open secret to management and employees alike, but one that dare not be acknowledged unless you were ready to make a career-terminating decision by saying so.

Possibly the kindest, yet most astute, comment I ever heard made about one senior affirmative action individual was "at least he photographs well." Think about it.

It was one thing to have to "carry" affirmative action dead weight, but we now may very well be "buried" by an affirmative action pResident.

What was well-intended may turn out to have been a suicide pact for the Republic. We waited too long to return to a meritocracy...
