A few U.S. Airlines have been fortunate enough to locate a DC-3 that was once registered to their company. After fifty or so years of service in parts unknown, purchasing the aircraft for a complete overhaul and re-fitting, usually by aviation enthusiasts and retirees.
When the ship is returned to good as new condition, is added to the company's history museum. This is Continental Airlines DC-3, snapped at an air show in Texas.
