USAF early jet markings, wing is painted like those on Sabres and P-80s.
Cockpit and canopy however look like a prop trainer, probably a Texan or Harvard.

I agree with Gallimaufry on this one.
The original Harvard has more segments in the canopy , wing joint fairings (the wings are bolted on with many, many bolts) and round wingtips. The Harvard II has a one-piece canopy and a glass cockpit aka EFIS. I originally thought T34 but the canopy design pretty well guarantees it is a TP-51C.
