Yeah. I tear up every year now. My dad was there. Not at the flag raising, but he was in the 5th Marines who hit the beach the first day. He made it all the way through and lived to be 74.
He didn't really know Ira Hayes, but he always said the Navajo "wind talkers" in his company were great marines.
