I saw a pink P40 (I think) at an air show. Turns out it was a reproduction paint job meant to show what happened to the desert camouflage scheme when the aircraft had been in the desert sun for a couple of months.
Not coincidentally, it was a woman who flew the plane at the airshow, named Sue Parrish:

Actually it's very effective camouflage for low level flying with a cloudy background. PRU Blue was developed because the sky was that colour at the altitude the aircraft cruised. Hence the U-2 was painted black - normally very conspicuous at lower flight levels (that's why RAF trainers are now so painted).
Yeah a great cam job... only slightly impared by the honking great invasion markings.
