Granny is packing an air gun manufactured by the British firm of Webley. That particular model was marketed under the name Tempest. It is a single shot air gun sporting a rifled barrel that can use either regular BB shot or pellets.
I own one myself, and I have been extremely disappointed because it won't even kill squirrels. Maybe it could stop the charge of an enraged cockroach, but my house is too clean for me to be able to test this.
My point to all this is that Granny's heart might be in the right place, but she needs to upgrade her gear.
