A fine aircraft in its day but getting a bit old, over-used (since the USAAF retired the EF-111A Raven) and tired now. Thank goodness the USN are ordering the EA-18G Growler based on the Super Hornet.

Nicely balanced aircraft though - neat trick perching it on the edge like that.

The photo on the left is a bird assigned to the VAQ-140 "Patriots" This is the squadron I was serving in when I retired from active duty in 1993. To bad the Navy is going with plastic to replace them.

Some thoughts from a former Prowler pilot...

-its ugly...but its slow
-substitutes noise for speed
-giant nose seeks the center of the earth in a dive
-its so ugly it could be a modern art masterpiece
-only tactical jet in the Marine Corps with the pointy end in the rear...
