Shows how large the newer jets are than the older fighters. In the late 60's or early 70's, I saw a flight jacket with an F-86 patch which had the legend "Last Of The Sport Models". The F-4 was current then, and it struck me as huge.
He was a fighter trained C-130 and then later AC-47 and AC-130 pilot in Nam that had been switched, due to USAF needs, from fighter units to multi-engines. He'd been transitioned to multis a bit after Korea.
Most of his former fighter squadrons ended up in Nam flying F-4s eventually. He'd tease them back about them teasing him for "going to fly those big ugly things".
An F4 Phantom is all that is missing from those pictures of the classics. Sam is right, the F4 is large. It was also one of the few 2 crewmen fighters.

The odd one out is the Sabre. What about a proper English electric Lightning in the formation instead?
