'Our Daughter Loved Being A Soldier'
She was the first British female soldier to be killed in Afghanistan, and my heart goes out to her family. It is a tragic loss, as are all those 'servicemen' killed in the line of duty. I would also like to pay my respects to those three gallant men from 23 SAS, a regiment who most people have never heard of. There are many 'Terriers' from 21,23 SAS, the HAC and other regiments who are doing tours of duty, giving up their jobs and risking their lives that do not get the press coverage that the regular army get. The same can be said of the US National Guard and the many troops from those countries that have bothered to 'turn up'. The media to my knowledge ignore these people and their service needs to be recognised. This in no means takes away the sterling work done by the USMC, US Airborne, the Royal Marines, the Parachute Regiment and all the other regiments that are doing their best to defeat the enemy. I would just like to see the 'part timers' given some more 'airtime'. Their exploits can be found on Liveleak and You-Tube and yet the media still ignore them. I could be wrong and please feel free to leave contradictory comments stating otherwise.
The usual comment moderation standards apply, because the death threats from my anonymous stalker are getting boring.

Everything your stalker does on the internet can be traced.
If you pass the IP, time & message, to the police they can traced.
Theo, don't dignify the terrorist as the 'enemy'. They are just gangsters and thugs to well armed and brutal for normal civilian police to deal with.
'They were warriors and may God bring them peace'.As a Canadian I offer my condolances and share your pain my brothers.
God bless her and her family.
Actually, the National Guard does get good press. They tend to be indistinguishable from the Regulars once they are in country. And of course, the Marines get the good press. Like all problem children, they get the most attention.....
Thanks for the kind words for our guys. But, I sympathize with your military. Theo, if you know of or meet any of your troops, let them know that at least one American believes that, having fought along side our men and women, they are part of our family, too and if they came over here, they would be welcomed. Tell them I'll buy a beer for any of your guys that I meet.
Oh, and apologize to them for me. The last time I talked with them was in 2003 in Kuwait and they kept asking us to bomb France on the way home. Sorry. Couldn't get around to it.....
I'm just old fashioned on this I hate to see women actually on the front-line. But true all of the deaths are equally sad, its just that some seem to make a bigger impact on me.
Your mention of the Territorials is the hidden army that is currently filling in the cracks in our woeful short-manned defence forces. One of my relatives is in the TA and has just finished his fifth tour abroad in recent years. Last year he was awarded the MBE for his contributions.
Over here in the states, to my knowledge, the 'part timers' (Reservists and National Guard) Have made such a large number of deployments that they get a good share of credit when due. My perception may be off due to the fact that where I live, we have no active duty posts or bases, it is all Reserve and Guard.
Fair winds and following seas Sarah, God bless.......
People like Sarah Bryant make this world a better place. When I was a kid growing up, I was taught to admire the plucky, wily British, who my father came to love in the months he spent in your country before Normandy.
This woman reminds me of what my Dad said about the British.
I don't think he would have shared that same admiration for the other person mentioned
God keep her, and give her family such comfort as can be had.
And yeah, there's so MANY behind the scenes/out of camera that do so much in this. I remember Patton's speech about the truck drivers in North Africa and Sicily: needs everybody to do their stuff to get the job done.
God bless them all and give comfort to the families that give them for us all.
Theo you do a good job. Tell you what I will send my e-mail to you and if you like pass it on to the coward who is making death threats. Sod the police let the low life come to me and and I will hasten his departure. You never know he might be wanting 72 virgins. Ha ha
This American prays for Sarah and the other Brits and allies just as I pray for our Americans.
Most of the world does not seem to realize that this war is truely a global struggle.
Now she WAS beautiful. Not like the vacuous bimbos you keep posting here. Katie Price indeed !
So Tony Blair is off around the USA making his fortune while our bravest and best are denied even basic protection and our military budget is the only one squeezed by his socialist government.
I value the Americans as intelligent people but they have been totally fooled by this traitor and charlatan - though I expect the Bush government are glad of his immoral support.
