Saw National Treasure, It is a bit of fluff. Skip II, if you have to pay for it.

Really enjoyed Charlie Wilson's War.

Only for some suspension-of-reality, pure escapism for the latter and a Python-like characterization of the Afghan war with the former. Acting and action are fine. Pleasant diversions both, but no top ten lists.

Yup. Good fun, both.

ional Treasure IIworth watching if you understand going in that it is a B movie. The Nicholas Cage character is an old-fashioned hero in many ways. I haven't seen rlie Wilson's War

I enjoyed Charlie Wilson's War and would definitely recommend it - Haven't seen N.T. II yet.

What always puzzled me about NT (#1, not #2) is that Nic Cage's family supposedly was obsessed with finding the artifact (can't even remember what it was).

So Nic Cage's father and grandfather spent their ENTIRE LIVES trying to find this thing, and yet, neither of them even found THE FIRST CLUE, LET ALONE SOLVE IT.

Yet, Nic Cage comes along and solves the whole thing.

Silly triffle, imo.

Charlie Wilson's War is good, but at the last second it kind of buys into the meme where it was the US that f'ed up Afghanistan and let it fall to the Taliban. I'll buy that there was a power vacuum after the Commies left, but to say that the USA defacto caused the Taliban is a bit gratuitous. Good film, though. 3/4.

Neither of them rank with "High Noon" or "Casablanca", but they were fun, entertaining and the "good guys" won.
Something almost extinct in Hollywood these days.
