Re 2nd amendment.

The ruling class said it was ok to "KEEP" MOST arms, imlying it was going to leave all the anti-new machinegun production laws safe and it near entirely avoided the BEARING of arms issue other than to say it didn't aim to invalidate states rights to outlaw carry and concealed carry. It was about 10% of the ruling us Right to Keep and Bear Arms activists wanted. Considering those caveats in the decision rendered, we shall see how this actually plays out in courts and how much, if any, of a victory it actually was.

Thanks NRA, for watering down the case and interfering with the CATO institute plan to establish once and for all that the right to keep and bear was an INALIENABLE right going so far as trying to marry your case to what was then Parker to further water it down. Keeps you in business as wash dc lobbyists and it's why I rescinded my life membership, and NOPE, they don't give you your money back for that but they weren't listening to a lot of our votes.

We shall see how this plays out, Theo. As for now, I see it only affecting a small number of DC residents. It's not going to be a wave of change that sweeps the nation and gets rid of all the stupid anti-gun laws.

You could see what was going to happen months ago when they dropped all the plantiffs as "ineligible" except the man that is a licensed security guard at a Federal building in DC and didn't want to have to trigger lock his gun at home.

Were slightly better off than you lot in the UK but not as much as you think when they are taking an alternate tangent of running dealers out of business. Just a few weeks back a SE gun dealer had an BATFEces agent notice that somebody had neglected to check "male" or "female" on a purchase/background check form required with every retial non-antique transaction. He told the dealer I could pull your license for this. The dealer said tell you what, I'm turning in my license because I'm tired of these petty battles with you and you are putting at least one dealer a month out of business in this state, sooner or later you'd take mine and I'd rather voluntarily give it up. Addendum:
DC Mayor Adrian M. Fenty's take on the ruling:

First, all firearms must be registered with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Firearms Registration Section before they may be lawfully possessed.

*Second, automatic and semiautomatic handguns generally remain illegal and may not be registered.

*Third, the Supreme Court’s ruling is limited to handguns in the home and does not entitle anyone to carry firearms outside his or her own home.

also:

In addition, although the Court struck the safe storage provision on the ground that it was too broadly written, firearms at home should be kept either unloaded and disassembled or else locked except for use in self-defense in emergencies.

Not much of a victory at all from where I'm sitting.
