Battleship sunset.....I think

Any idea on which ship this is. The crane (it may be dockside) on the stern reminds me on the ship that 'played' the Graf Spee in the film Battle of the River Plate.

In the Film the Graf Spee was played buy the Battleship USS Salem

This should be the BB 60, USS Alabama, taken from the eastbound lanes of I-10 over Mobile Bay, facing west.

It sure looks like her, she still has her scout plane catapult and crane on the stern. She also has an OS2U "Kingfisher" back there.

Alabama's guns are elevated, and the radars look right.

This is the battleship ALABAMA in Mobile, AL. The huge overhead gantry crane on the left side of the picture is that at Alabama Shipyard.

Appears to be one the South Dakota class battleships.

Looks more like a Yank to me, possibly the Massachusetts.

Definitely Alabama.

Compare her pic here:

Same elevation, same radars, same profile, same crane.

They also listed a tank you had recently as an M-26 Persing.

sorry but the Salem is a cruiser not a battleship

The USS Salem was a Chester Class Scout Cruiser and she played the part of Graf Spee which was a Pocket Battleship!

Battleships were named after U.S. States, not cities. Sorry.

This is the U.S.S. Alabama in Mobile Bay. I remember her from when I was in flight school at N.S. Pensacola many years ago.
