The new one in .338mag with the Daddy in .50 BMG death from afar.
Bet 45govt has already got one.
The new one, according to the site, is 7.62mm.
I think you're misreading the article, cargosquid, unless they've changed it since you looked at it. It says that the old rifle (the L96, which the new rifle is replacing) was 7.62mm.
It gives the L115A3's calibre as 8.59mm - ie. it's the Lapua .338 magnum.
Plenty to read at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.338_Lapua_Magnum
A bit of googling got me to the L115A3 page on Wikipedia. It's an Accuracy International AWM.
Hmmm ...
The Canadian Army version (adopted 2005) is the Timberwolf: http://www.sfu.ca/casr/101-rifle-c14-timberwolf.htm

Aha! That'll do it! Hide that info right in plain sight! No wonder I misread that thing....
Yep, 8.59 mm
.338 Lapua is an awesome round.
Check out Cheytac for the new and improved toys out there....
New for the Brits (in service date 2007), but been around for several years according to wiki (1997 at least).
