Ditto, heck you could even have a hand pump handy for emergencies, if you run out of gas.

The best part is: simplicity. No fancy batteries to wear out in a couple of years. Pneumatic technology is widely supported in industry, the parts are easy to work with and common.

Do it yoursefers- would you really get into the battery pack on a Prius or would you rather replace a fitting you got for $1.50 at the hardware store (local industrial supply)?

If they ever figure out the super efficient flexible solar spray/on type coatings, you could run the onboard compressor with sunlight while your car sits in the parking lot at work. Brilliant.
