...yes they really did fly a Herc off a carrier. In 1963, this KC-130F was used to make twenty-nine touch-and-go landings and twenty-one full-stop landings on the USS Forrestal (CVA-59) without arresting gear to test the feasibility of a large carrier onboard delivery aircraft.

I've a video of that somewhere. Less exciting than it sounds as it's sloowww but you wonder about the wings which makes it a bit more exciting. I'll see if I can passit on.
IIRC the Navy also experiment with using a P-3 Orion as a super COD (Carrier Onboard Delivery) also.
A U-2 also did carrier landings, which I find absolutely amazing.
